The WVDNR offers several types of resident and non-resident Lifetime Licenses. Lifetime Licenses can be purchased for Hunting, Fishing, Hunting and Fishing, Trout Fishing Privilege, Small Arms Use, and a Senior Lifetime License for West Virginia residents age 65 and older. All Lifetime Licenses require an application and certain documentation. However, the Senior Lifetime License has an online option for West Virginia residents who have purchased licenses online previously.
For the first time ever Lifetime Licenses can now be purchased online starting December 2023! To purchase your Lifetime License online visit Licensing and Game Check System.
Applications for Lifetime Licenses are still available. To print the application for the Lifetime License you want, navigate your browser to WVDNR online Licensing and Game Check System. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, to the section labeled Printable License Applications. Click on the Lifetime License application you wish to print. A new screen will appear with your application in PDF format. (Make sure you have pop-ups enabled or answer ‘yes’ to any message asking to allow this pop-up) choose print. Complete the application and return to the address listed with any additional documentation requirements.
Residents who are age 65 or older and have previously purchased licenses online can purchase the Senior Lifetime License online by logging in to their account and choosing the Senior Lifetime License (Class XS) from the list of available products by clicking the Add button. The products you select will appear in the cart. Once you have selected your products, click the Proceed to Checkout button. (Note: If the plastic card option was also purchased, it will be mailed to the address on file.)
At checkout, review the list of products to ensure they are correct. You can remove any products chosen in error by clicking the X next to that product. If you see an orange circle with an exclamation point, this indicates terms to be accepted or a survey that requires completing. When complete, Click on the Pay Now button. A screen will appear where you can provide your credit card information. Once entered, click Pay.
From the Checkout Confirmation page, you will see a list of items purchased and a button labeled Print Active License. Click, print, and enjoy your hunting or fishing experience.
